Cursive Writing A to Z

How to write the letter I in cursive

Iiline 1line 2line 3line 4
Capital I and small i on four-line ruling. The hand drawn letterforms for the books are still being made, so this is a guide to the proportions, not the final letter art.

Capitals and small letters, Rs 149Interiors are still being drawn, so this is a reservation through the contact page. No payment until the file is ready to send.

Capital I begins with a small loop just below line 1, curves down to line 3, and finishes with a curve to the right. Small i is short: an upward slant from line 3, back down to line 3, an exit hook, then lift the pencil and place one dot just above line 2.

What to watch on four-line copy

The mistake to correct first

The dot drifting right and sitting over the next letter. Ask the child to point at the stem with the pencil before touching the paper.

Practice strip

Trace the shape three times slowly, then write the pair on your own four-line copy. Two minutes a day beats one long session on Sunday.
