How to write the letter T in cursive

Capital T starts with a curve near line 1, comes down to line 3, ends with a small curve to the right, then takes a crossbar near the top. Small t is a tall letter that stops short of line 1: bring the stem down to line 3, hook it to the right, and cross it at middle height.

What to watch on four-line copy

Small t is shorter than l, d and h. That gap is what makes a word look correct.
The crossbar sits at line 2, level with the tops of a, c and n.
Cross the t after the stem is drawn, not before, or the letter loses its slant.

The mistake to correct first

t made as tall as l. Ask the child to write lt as a pair and look at the two heights next to each other.

Practice strip

Trace the shape three times slowly, then write the pair on your own four-line copy. Two minutes a day beats one long session on Sunday.
